Star Wars Cupcakes! {may the chocolate be with you}

WOW.
That is all I have to say about these cupcakes.

When Rochele asked for some Star Wars cupcakes for her hubby's birthday, I was SUPER excited and may have gone slightly overboard with the characters.  This officially combined my love of all things art, and my love of all things cake.

Eat the cake, you will.

And I hope it tastes amazing!!!

Presenting....From a Galaxy far, far away....

Sesame Street Cupcakes & Elmo Cake - Gon' Country, Ya'll!

When Jeff (@comeseecomesaw) asked us to create some "Sesame Street Gone Country" Cupcakes for their daughters second birthday, I couldn't have been more excited.
BRIGHT COLOURS!
CUTE THINGS!
SESAME STREET!

Getting to do kids cakes has got to be the best part - especially because all the kid themes are just so adorable! And so began the formation of the army of Sesame Street muppets...

We decided to include a "smash cake" for his daughter Elis to get her hands on, and what better to get a kid to eat cake, then to shape it like Elmo's giant head!?

This chocolatey mini-cake, is an entirely edible creation.  From the eyes, to the nose to the mouth - don't you just want to eat him up??!

Happy Birthday Elis!

And then came the cupcakes - Yeee Hawwww!!!!

These 60 vanilla & chocolate cupcakes were decked out with everyone from Bert and Ernie to the Count, and today - Sesame Street is going a little bit country!

Oscar is countrified - and he's a bit 'grouchy' about it..

Star Trek Cake! {Borg vs Enterprise}

I admit..
When the request for this cake first came in, I had NO idea what she was talking about.  Borg? Cake? Star Trek? Whaaaa? Come again???
But trusty Google came through, and with the help of Wendy and her cake googling skills - we found a cake that was perfect for her husbands 50th birthday!

Presenting the Borg vs Enterprise Cake - a red velvet double cake, with creamy buttercream filling.
The outer shell was made in fondant and gum paste, as well as the Enterprise itself.

This cake was one small step, and one giant leap for mankind.  Or alternatively you could say this cake took a long time.  BUT - It was totally worth it, because even though I have no idea what it is, it looks amazing.

Here is the Borg Cake:

Star Trek Font is the BEST font

it apparently glows green from the inside...who knew??! Oh - you knew? Well, that's great..

The Enterprise TNG

one more, because it took so long I had to take extra pictures

WIth any birthday, resistance really IS futile..

Big thanks to Wendy for coming up with the concept, and I hope the party was a huge success!!

A Birthday Cake fit for a Princess!

There's another birthday in Vancouver and we are super excited to present the most fun slab cake we have ever created!

This bright and colourful buttercream covered vanilla cake, is filled with a light raspberry whip filling and is covered in lots of different flowers and stars!

There was a request for no fondant on the cake - which at first threw me for a complete loop because fondant runs in my veins  - but when one of The Real Housewives of Vancouver asks for a cake for her daughters birthday without fondant, well then you better give her a cake without fondant!
We wanted to avoid any cake fights - although that might make for good tv!

The gum paste stars add a little accent decor to the cake, and we hope that everyone has a great time at the party today!!

Happy 10th Birthday Remy!!

I also wanted to thank everyone for the kind comments on our blog and Twitter - they reassure me that following my passion was the right call!

Stay tuned for the next cake, especially if you are a Trekkie ;)

Finding Nemo Cake! {FishBowl Style}

I don't really need a reason to make a Nemo cake - but what a better reason then Family Fun Night?!
My idea of a fun night is eating this cake, and playing with the little fondant characters before stuffing them into my mouth...
Crazy cake lady, you say?
Yes. Yes I am.

Presenting Finding Nemo Cake!!!

World of Warcraft: The {Panda Monk} Cake!

All I ever knew of the magical World of Warcraft was from that South Park Episode where they lock themselves in the basement for days and can't do anything but obsess over this game.  In fact, this cake project became somewhat similar to that experience.

Here is the Panda Monk character we were provided, and we decided to go to TOWN on this one!!

We laughed, we cried, we pulled hair out - but don't worry, we didn't put any in the cake...

This "Panda Monk" was created for Bob's birthday from his lovely fiance Linda - and we think he has to be our funkiest 3D cake to date!

This chocolate cake with rich chocolate ganache centre is stacked alongside some styrofoam and sculpted rice crispies.  A little (or a lot) of fondant, some edible paint - and you've got yourself one mean looking Panda Monk:

It's all in the details.....

All decked out in his Warcrafty fashion....clearly I'm not up to speed with the lingo..

Panda Monk started to get cute on me after a while, kinda wanted to add him to the rest of my stuffed animals... if I had any of those..... (i so do)

Happy Birthday Bob!!
We hope you enjoy your chocolatey Panda Monk Warcraft Cake as much as we enjoyed making it for you!
Thanks again Linda!! xoxo!

Monkey Cake: People say we monkey around...and they were right!

When Betty asked us to take this little guy and make a birthday cake for 80 people,
we gladly accepted the challenge!!
Monkey see - Monkey Do!!

~Monkey Inspiration~
This red velvet cake, with creamy buttercream filling with chunks of chewy, chocolatey brownies inside, is sure to be one of the most delicious cakes we've pumped out in a while!

The entire monkey is made from rice crispies and I can't wait for someone to eat the banana (also rice crispies!)

Major Monkey Business
Lip lickin Good!!

they might look like chestnut, but they're actually balls of sugar..
as they should be!

Big thanks to Betty for providing the inspiration for this cake, and we hope that Es has a wonderful birthday!!!

Paris Cake: "Eiffel-t' like a piece of cake!"

Romeena's Parents are celebrating their romantic 20th Wedding Anniversary, and we are pleased to present them with this Paris Skyline Cake.  The 2 tiers of Vanilla and Chocolate cake, are covered in a creamy buttercream and topped with sugar hydrangeas!

I am in love with this cake.

It feels romantic, and simplistic - yet as artistic as I would imagine Paris to be.
Give me a french loaf and some cheese and a slice of this cake - and oooh la la.
I'm set.

"The reflection"
Hand painted Paris Skyline
Handmade Hydrangeas in a deep purple

~now this is love, da da da da, now this - is loveee~
Backside of the cake
"Effiel in love in Paris"

Wishing the happiest 20th Anniversary to Romeena's Parents today - and here's to another 20+!!
