The Dirtiest of Thirty Cake! {Happy Birthday Jen!!}

Jen turned 30 today, and what better way to turn the big 3-0 then to have a "Dirty Thirty" Cake!!
Paper dolls, music and naked men was the request - and the result was magical.
The vanilla and chocolate cupcakes were decked out with music notes, and paper dolls:

But the cake. The cake stole the show.
Meet "Joe Dirt with abs" (which is what I was referring to him as during creation)
Who wouldn't want this guy serenading you on your 30th??

"It's not unusual, to be naked with anyone....." - Tom Jones remix
*parts blurred to try and keep things PG around here*
The details are what make the cake, and each little key actually plays a note!!
Disclaimer: they don't actually play music, but that would be pretty cool...
~A personalized touch~
This chocolate cake with rich ganache filling will hopefully be a huge hit at the party!!
*this one is not so PG...oops ;)*

HAPPY 30th BIRTHDAY JEN!!!!

Big thanks to Genina & Derek for coming up with this idea - xoxo!

The [Prototype 2] Wrap Party Cake for @Radical_Ent {5 tiers of madness!}

Many, many, many, MANY hours of love were put into this incredible cake for Radical Entertainments Wrap Party for their new game, Prototype 2.
From the concept sketches, to real life - I'm pretty sure this gigantic red velvet cake now has a part of my soul...
And I hope my soul tastes delicious!!

Cake Concept Art {click photo to enlarge}

I have decided to post excessive amounts of pictures of this cake, as there was many minor details that brought it to life - and also? I'm damn proud of it!  Tier by tier, there was something new to focus on and to look at.
The setting of the cake at Subeez in Yaletown was just perfect - and may I now present to you:

[PROTOTYPE 2] - The Epic Cake!

5 offset tiers compose the base of this beauty!
Tier #1 - Heli's & Heller

Heller is the main character in the game, and his blade arm
is his weapon of choice
The helicopters featured in the video game, adding the aspect of height to the cake.

Edible paint
Tier #2: The Logo

I had to share the new business cards :)
gum paste letters, cracked for effect
Tier #3: City Skyline Intruder

"No one is safe! Get out of NYZ! STAY OUT!"
Mercer is the enemy in the game, and we have him "claw"-ing  into the cake,
making his way up towards Heller
small details pulled from the game - trashed city.
Tier #4: Heller's Jacket

Heller's Leather Jacket Logo makes up the 4th tier, as well as the
logo for Radical Entertainment
Blackwatch, in the game, is the Biological Warfare Command,
which it turns out, is hard to write in royal icing!
Tier #5: Sketchy Brawlers

My FAVOURITE tier by far - incorporating the designers sketches of the
"monsters" in the game.

Thank goodness for Edible Paint!
This guy was my shinning moment...which won him the front side of the cake
Ribbon accents to cover the wooden base, and voila!
And there you have it...

ok maybe ONE more time, for shits 'n' giggles:

because OF COURSE I would do this...FOAM BLADES! AMAZING!!

Big thanks to Jules and the team at Radical Entertainment - We wish you and Heller all the success in the world!!

And now, time to catch up on 65 hours of sleep.... ;)

Until next time, cakers!

xo!

LadyBug Cake! {warning: cute overload!}

This weekend we did a cake for Lindsay's (@causticchick) niece, Rachel, for her second birthday! Who knew that an insect could turn into something that I would like as a stuffed animal?!

This chocolate cake, with more chocolate buttercream and crushed up Skor bars will totally fit right in with the super cute Ladybug decor that was at the party!

Happy 2nd Birthday Rachel!!

Love Your Cake's Official Logo Reveal!!!

There it is, in all it's glory!!!
*insert light shining from the heaven's here*
*annnd cue angels singing*

The reveal of Love Your Cake's official Logo has arrived!!

The idea in my mind was "pink", "bite mark", "cat in apron" and "adorable" - and when I passed  that simple information onto my good (and amazingly computer talented) friend Kira (@kixy_stabbs), she created this yummy masterpiece in exchange for wine and....wine!!

I LOVE IT!
I JUST LOVE IT!

What do you think?!

Major thanks to Kira and her ability to take my ramblings and turn them into something that I didn't even know I wanted.
Even without a cat in an apron, I can't fault it.

Bring on the cake.
Bring on the business cards.
Bring on the car decals, t-shirts, stickers, magnets and buttons.
Bring it all on, right now.

:)

Thank you everyone, for your continued support on this journey!!

More hockey? More Cupcakes!! {feat. Vancouver @JSRHockey team}

These cupcakes were created for the Vancouver JSR Ball Hockey Team to celebrate their last regular season game - and we think they turned out great!  And as badly as I wanted to throw in some pink here, and some sparkle there, we kept with their teams colours and logo.

We couldn't have asked for a better logo to work with, and we hope the team enjoyed their treat!!

Happy Cupcaking!

Kamloops Ice Pirates - Cupcake Style!!

There was no way I could pass up on doing these manly little cupcakes for the Kamloops Ice Pirates Hockey team.

Nicole (@nixsmith on Twitter) was an integral part of my getting to make cakes for the Canucks - so helping out her son's team with some celebratory cupcakes was a no-brainer.
Plus? Just LOOK at that logo!! It was meant to be on a cupcake (or 6).

We dropped these off today during the game and heard they were a hit with the kids!!

Good luck in the tournament, Pirates!!!

The Results Are In! {Cake Tasting Party 2012}

This past weekend, Love Your Cake hosted a "Cake Tasting Party" to try out some new and old recipes, and get some feedback from our cake-loving participants.

Each guest was given a plate, a fork and survey - and we asked that they rate the taste, texture and give any constructive criticism of 4 different cake flavours and fillings.  The information would be useful to the business moving forward, to make sure that we are providing only the most delicious cakes for all occasions.
Of course there was wine, of the Cupcake variety, and overall it was a great night with some pretty amazing people.

We have tallied up the results, and coming in 4th place was the Coconut Chiffon cake with Chocolate Ganache.  This cake tasted like a Bounty chocolate bar but in the shape of a cake. For the coconut lover in your life, this one 'takes the cake'

In 3rd place was the Carrot Cake and the Raspberry Frosting.  The two were on different cakes, but were rated individually.  We learned to pull back on the raspberry and tone down the sweetness, but the carrot cake was an overall success!

In 2nd place was the classic Vanilla cake with Light Chocolate Whip frosting.  This cake is a classic staple at birthday parties and large gatherings, and our taste test experiment only confirmed the love for this combination of flavours:

 Finally, in first place, was my personal favourite - Chocolate Espresso Angel Food Cake!
As for the #1 frosting {drum roll please..} Creamy Cream Cheese!
The espresso cake was paired with the raspberry filling, and the cream cheese was matched up with the carrot cake, but nonetheless the two flavours took the top spots.  Some of my favourite comments were "By far Favourite Cake", "sexual" and "unicorns, rainbows & dreams".
If that doesn't describe a good cake, I don't know what does:

 We also released the logo at the party, which was amazingly designed by my good friend Kira (@kixy_stabbs) and the response was pretty amazing! I am very excited to get it finalized and get some business cards in the works!

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came by last night, and we appreciate all of your hard work in consuming many, many slices of cake.  I am happy to have guinea pigs like you in my life and your support makes me cry pure icing sugar.

Next up? The Big Logo Release! Stay tuned...
