I will try not to pull a "Geoffrey"

Day 9 of my training for the Sun Run on May 9th.  Today I decided to hit up the outdoor track and give it 25 laps to see how close I was coming to my goal time of 45 minutes.  Mid run, I was reminded of an episode of Fresh Prince of BelAir,  showing Geoffrey the butler as the "Shame of a Nation" because he had participated in a race in England.  However he took a taxi ride and won the race, but was caught due to a Japanese tourist catching a video.

Hahaha, Geoffrey.  I feel your pain.

I anticipate that by May 9th, things will go better then they did today.  And if they don't, then I will just have to make sure I have some cash on me, just in case I need to flag anyone down..

10k? Okay!

This year I am going to run - for fun - in the sun.  At least I hope there will be sun..
Last year was the first time I watched the annual Sun Run in Vancouver, and I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed with the whole idea.  It was incredible to see so many people running in the streets,  and even better still is that it was done without open liquor, Canada flags and cowbells.  Oh, Olympics...I miss you so...

Anywho - I decided that this year I want to run.  I know there's no chance of winning, even though that was the first thought through my head, but if I can finish the race in under 45 minutes I will be my own winner.

So let the training begin!! Then it will probably pause, then begin again, then maybe miss a day, then get back on track when it's crunch time.  This seems to be my track record for everything I do in life, so why bother setting unrealistic goals? I like pizza way too much to be good till May 9th.

Manchester United, with a love for coconut.

Happy 50th Birthday!!

For the love of soccer - or should I say 'football', we created this yummy, vanilla coconut soccer field!
I especially like the guy who looks like he's taking a nap on the field.  Now that's my kind of soccer!

...right.... 'football'....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Ode to the Olympics!

The Olympics have come, and now they are gone
What will we do? How can we go on?

We dressed up in flags, we painted our faces
We cheered on our athletes in all sorts of places

Vancouver came out, and danced in the street,
We made friends with strangers, who all were so sweet!

Pins were collected, our boys owned the rink,
And now that's it's over, I've started it think...

Who says it must end? who says we can't cheer?
It's not like we ran out of jerseys and beer!

So put on your red, and your white, and your shoes,
The parties not over, be done with the blues

Gather your friends, and 'WOOO!' with the masses,
Have lots of drinks, and fall on your asses

We still have the mountains, we still have the sea,
We still live in Canada, home of the free

Thank you, Olympics, for making us happy,
And even though you're gone, we won't get all sappy

We won the most golds, and sure there's some debt,
But man, was it worth it - Best Olympics yet!
